Wilson "Whitie" Pert

Wilson “Whitie” Pert 1942-2016 Franklin Wilson “Whitie” Pert, 74, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on August 18th, 2016. He graduated from Pensacola High School and was a retired surveyor from Mills Paving & Grading. He enjoyed fishing, billiards and all sports, especially horse racing. Wilson was baptized at age 11 at Brownsville Baptist Church and was a current member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. He loved people and always had a good, long story to tell. Wilson was a determined caregiver, whom tirelessly cared for his father until the time of his passing and then continued his selflessness for over a decade with his mother. He had strength that few saw being a cancer survivor for over twenty five years. During his second battle with cancer, God called him home. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jean Frances Enfinger Pert; brother, Roger Wayne McGowan; sister, Alice Pert Calderon, and sister-in-law, Sylvia McGowan. He is survived by brothers, Eugene McGowan (Betty) and Duke McGowan; sister, Adrienne Pert Zarahn (Eddie), and brother-in-law, Ken Calderon. Pallbearers will be six of his nephews, Steve McGowan, Craig McGowan, Jason Coleman, Matthew McGowan, Jarett Coleman, and Joshua McGowan. Visitation will be Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Funeral services will be Monday, August 22, 2016 at New Beginnings Baptist Church, 808 N New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506 at 10:00am with Dr. John Pavlus officiating. Interment will follow at Elizabeth Chapel on Chumuckla Highway. FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME SOUTH, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola is in charge of arrangements.
