Wesley Eugene Brown

Wesley Eugene Brown, Sr. February 12, 1950 – January 11, 2021 Wesley E. Brown, Sr passed away at his home in Cantonment, Florida on January 11, 2021; he was 70 years old. Wes was born and lived his entire life in the Pensacola area. He served our Armed Forces during the Vietnam War from October 27, 1970 – October 18, 1973 and trained in the Special Forces as a Green Beret, receiving an Honorable Discharge Ranked Sergeant. He received awards as Airborne Paratrooper and was also awarded The M16 Expert Marksmanship award. After serving in the Army, Wes went on to service in law enforcement with the Escambia County Sheriff's Department and retired after 40 years of dedicated service, earning the rank of Lieutenant. Wes was an expert fisherman of both salt and freshwater fishing and spent his retired years on the lakes and rivers of Escambia county and fishing the Gulf. He also enjoyed traveling and was proud of our family's Native American Heritage on the Gulf Coast area. Wes is preceded in death by his father, Lt. Colonel William Edward Brown; step-father, Lamar Brown; granddaughter, Rachel Virginia Bruner; and sister, Sherry Susan Brown. He is survived by his daughter, Terra Brown McDaniel (Eric); son, Wesley Eugene Brown, Jr. (Missy); granddaughters, Natalie Amber Hebert (James Murphy) and Magnolia Brown; grandsons, Jacob William Bruner (Savannah) and Logan Brown; mother, Laura Brown; brothers, Phil Brown (Sheila) and Barry Brown (Anita); sisters, Penny Brown Terry (Dennis) and Marla Brown Sample (David); and many nephews, nieces, and cousins whom he loved dearly. Retired Lieutenant Wesley E Brown, Sr will be escorted by the Escambia County Sheriff's Department and The Freedom Riders for his service, which will be held at Fort Barrancas National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Service time is at 11:30 A.M. sharp, Friday, March 19th.
