Teena Ann Phillips

Teena Ann Phillips, 84, went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by family on Thursday, March 25, 2021, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Teena was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on August 4, 1936, to the late Thomas Everett and Jamie Laura Gilbert, both of Pensacola, FL. She is preceded in death by two brothers: Tom Gilbert of Milton, FL and Billy Gilbert of Gulf Breeze, FL. In addition, her loving son, Allen Phillips, went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2015. Being raised in a military family, Teena grew up in several different states, but spent most of her time in Virginia and Florida. As a teenager, her family was stationed in Hawaii. In 1952 Teena met Jerry Jerome Phillips who was stationed in Hawaii serving in the United States Navy. They married August 17, 1953 in Yuma, Arizona, and had been married for 57 years when Jerry passed away in 2010. Before his passing their children honored them with a 50th wedding anniversary trip to Hawaii where they reminisced about meeting and falling in love years before. During their 57 years of marriage, Teena and Jerry were blessed with four children: Thomas Phillips (Linda) of St. Augustine, FL; Jerrie Ann Barnes (Johnnie Ray) of Cantonment, FL; Jamie LaPointe (Ted) of Cantonment, FL; and the late Allen Phillips (Fran) of Boiling Springs, NC. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Timmy (Rhonda) Few, Heather (Ryan) Maxwell, Jason (Cynthia) Phillips, Jordon (Jennifer) Barnes, Chip Roberson and five precious great grandchildren: Ryleigh, Emalyn, Carly, Cooper and Gracie. . The family would also like to express a heartfelt thank you to a loving and supportive “part of the family” friend, Angie Hall, and her husband, Rodney. Teena’s greatest love was her family. She considered her four children to be her greatest blessings and was overwhelmingly proud of each of them. Later in life, her grandchildren and great grandchildren completed her circle of love. Just the mention of their names filled her heart with joy and brought a smile to her face. She took every opportunity she had to brag on her family and keep others updated on their accomplishments. She was especially known for giving others cheek pinches and tight hugs no matter their age. More than anything, Teena will be remembered for her unwavering faith in God. Words cannot express our appreciation for the care she was provided by the doctors and nurses of Sacred Heart Hospital and Covenant Hospice in Sacred Heart. Friends and family are invited to say their final farewells at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South on Monday, April 5th, 2021 from 11:30 am-12:30 pm. The service will begin at 12:30 pm, and graveside service will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at Pensacola Naval Air Station at 2:00 pm. Active Pallbearers are Jordon Barnes, Jason Phillips, Ted LaPointe, Johnnie Ray Barnes, Ryan Maxwell and Rodney Hall.
