Stephany Ann Fine

Long time Pensacola resident, Stephany Ann Fine, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. Stephany was born October 7, 1965 along with her twin sister, Sydney to loving parents, Jack and Laverne Fine in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family lived in Tulsa until the girls were 4 when they moved to Dauphin Island, Alabama. There Stephany lived what she called an enchanted childhood, growing up playing with her sister and friends on the beach and in the woods, riding bikes, swimming, camping and exploring with the girl scouts, and going to school in the little red schoolhouse. In the summer of 1977, the family moved to Gulf Breeze, Florida. There Stephany continued with all the things she loved and was also able to finally take horseback riding lessons and later get her own horse. It was also during her time in Gulf Breeze that Stephany met many of her lifelong friends. Stephany graduated from Gulf Breeze High School in 1984 with honors. From there she continued her studies at Emory University in Georgia, spending her first two years at the original campus in Oxford and then completed her Bachelors of Science degree in Geology in 1988 at West Georgia College in Carrollton. With her degree in hand, Stephany then went to work in the Superfund Investigation Office of NUS, a subsidiary of Brown and Root. From there Stephany went to work for PSI, an environmental company where she travelled all over continuing to work as a Geologist, project manager and program manager. On October 31, 1989, Stephany met the love of her life, Ed Billman, while attending an OSHA safety training conference. They continued their lives together in Georgia, sharing their love of adventure, family, friends, animals and the outdoors. In 1995, Stephany was diagnosed with renal failure and from then on was on kidney dialysis for the remainder of her life. In late 1996, Stephany and Ed moved to Pensacola and established their lives there with many old and new friends. Stephany’s passing will leave a tremendous hole in so many lives. She was an inspiration to us all, never letting her kidney disease slow her down. She continued to be active in the horse community, riding, teaching and getting her weekly dose of vitamin “H”. She was devoted to her many cats, taking in any stray as well as helping with trap, spay/neuter and release programs, Red Fox Adoptions and Animal Allies, often at her own expense. Whether it was a ride somewhere, help with your pet, work at your house, shopping, gardening, or just being there, we could always count on Stephany. She was the center of so many celebrations from the holidays to Kitten Bowl parties, to having friends over for dinner or an outing just to get together. She was a God given gift to us all, will be missed beyond measure but forever in our hearts as she watches over us from above. Stephany was preceded in death by her father, Jack Fine as well as her grandparents. She is survived by her family including Ed Billman, her lifetime partner of 30 years, her mother, Laverne Moynihan, her sister, Sydney Herrera (Randy) as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, including Spencer Herrera.
