Sandra L. Lawry

Sandra Leigh Lawry, a loving wife and mother, 61, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her husband and daughters on July 15, 2025. Sandra, affectionately known as "Sandie," was born to her nurse mother and Navy diver father, the baby of eight, in 1964 in Key West. She was raised in the warmth of Florida and carried that sunshine with her wherever she went. She was a devoted Navy wife who gracefully navigated the many moves and challenges that came with that life, always creating a sense of home wherever they landed. Her strength was quiet but constant. It was a steady hand, a listening heart, and a voice of calm during the storm. More than anything, Sandie was a strong Christian mother through and through. Her love for her daughters, Claire and Chloe was limitless; fierce, nurturing, and unconditional. She had a way of making everyone feel safe, seen, and wholly loved. Her hugs could mend anything, and her wisdom gently guided without judgment. Sandie’s laughter lit up the room. She loved a good story, music playing in the kitchen, and simple moments spent in the presence of family. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, playing with her cats, and scrapbooking. She loved to volunteer, and cared for people and animals alike. She believed in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, always showing His Grace and kindness to everyone she met. She leaves behind a family who adores her, and friends who are forever changed by her love and are forever better because of it. Her life was a quiet legacy of devotion, strength, and endless care. She will be greatly missed every single day. She is survived by her husband, Raymond "Gordon" Lawry II, Lieutenant Commander USN, Retired; her daughters, Claire Lawry and Chloe Sexton; Son-in-law, Nick Sexton; and grandson, Blake Sexton; siblings, Michael Toomer, Gayle Valdivia, Curtis Toomer, Lorry Toomer, Robin Toomer, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family has chosen to have a private burial at Barrancas National Cemetery. A Celebration of life will be held on Pensacola Beach on Saturday, July 26th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sandra's honor to The American Red Cross, or The Humane Society.
