Ruth L. Myers

**Ruth Lucille Myers, **97 years old, passed from this life into the promise of eternal life, on **Saturday morning, Feb 18, 2017, just three days short of her 98th birthday. **Ruth was born on a cold winters night, February 21, 1919 to Barney, Sr. and Listeney Davis in the small, Northwest Florida fishing village of Boggy Bayou, now called Niceville. The second eldest of eight children, she learned early in life the responsibilities involved in raising children at a time in life when material goods were scarce but love for family abound. Ruth was an intelligent, sweet natured and loving child and those characteristics overflowed into her adult life. Early in Ruth's childhood, she experienced the loss of a 4 year old sibling and thus knew the pain and heartache that words cannot describe. Ruth would tell of hearing the bells ringing at the local church in her small town and the longing she would feel, to go and be a part of it. Something within her had an awareness of a greater One that loved her and she longed to meet Him. Around the age of seven, Ruth's family moved to Pensacola. There, she was introduced to that great God she so loved. During this time, she began caring for the church Pastor's children in addition to caring for her own siblings. Ruth grew to be a lovely young woman and soon met the love of her life at the church she was attending. Jackson Myers, a singer and guitarist, was loved and admired by many. Jack and Ruth were married on December 18 and at the time of Jack's passing, he and Ruth had been married 64 years. God blessed their union with four precious children. Ruth's life proved to be one of servitude and her selfless ways of giving and sharing never stopped. She blessed so many, in her fervent desire to help those in need, by volunteering with the Red Cross. She worked with the public schools, served as a dietician with the local hospitals in Niceville and Fort Walton Beach, taught Sunday School along with her husband and at times, opened her home to children in temporary need of care. In 2015, First Pentecostal Church of Palm Bay, FL built several orphanages in Guatemala, and named one of them in honor of Ruth. Ruth was instrumental in passing on the heritage foundation of the Apostolic faith. After sacrificially affording their children the blessings and benefits of attending Bible college, God's anointing was manifested in the lives of her children as God called some to be pastors, teachers, counsellors, musician, singers and soul winners all with a genuine love for people. Through Ruth's perseverance in passing on this heritage, her extended family, from children to great-grandchildren, through the work of God, has reached the lives of countless people across this nation and around the world. Her life, truly lived in a spirit of giving, will never really stop. **Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Myers, a daughter, Lucille Henisa, a sister, Ruby Miller, a sister Ila Mae Mills, brothers, Barney Davis, Jr, Clayton Davis, Carlton Davis and James Davis. **She is survived by son Bishop J. Ellis Myers and wife, Dr Margaret Myers, son GE Myers and wife Becky Myers, daughter Marie Bush and husband Rev Harry Bush; brother, Nathaniel Davis along with numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren **Funeral arrangements provided by Faith Chapel South, Pensacola. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb 21, 2017 beginning at 10:30 AM at First Pentecostal Church, Pensacola, Fl.
