Roy Emmons

Roy Emmons, 76, died January 12, 2019. He passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long and hard fought battle with lung cancer. Born and raised in Pensacola, FL, Roy was a member of the United States Navy, where he served his time on the USS Terrell County. After his endeavors in the U.S. Navy, he started his journey in the paint & body field, where he became the owner and operator of Bellview Paint & Body. Roy always had a passion and talent for working with cars, whether it was a minor paint job, restoring older model cars or fixing-up vehicles for family members. He also enjoyed fishing, eating boiled shrimp, having fish fry’s, and taking many trips to the casinos in Atmore and Biloxi where he loved to play the penny slot machines and eat the Dungeness crabs at the buffet. On Sundays in the spring and summer, you could find him sitting in his chair watching Nascar rooting for his favorite driver, Harry Gant. In the afternoons, he enjoyed drinking a cup of coffee and watching the birds in the backyard. Many would say his best qualities were his contagious smile and storytelling of the good-ole days. He was always friendly to everyone and most of all, he loved his family. He is proceeded in death by his father, John David Emmons; mother, Louise Tate; two sisters Patricia Woody and Faye Clark and brother James Edward Emmons. Roy is survived by his wife Sally Emmons, sister Betty McQuigg, daughter Rebecca Schneidmiller, two sons James and Jason (Jennifer), three granddaughters, Amanda Austin (Shane), Brittney Emmons and Jennifer Johnson (Jede), two grandsons Tyler and Bryson Emmons, and four great-grandchildren Aaron and Elizabeth Kelsey, Justus Austin and Draven Johnson. The family would like to thank the Oncologist and Hospice staff at Sacred Heart Hospital for their excellent care during this time. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 beginning at 9:00 am at Faith Chapel Funeral Home-South with a funeral service beginning at 9:45 am. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. Reverend Glenn Vaughn will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to invite you to either donate to your charity of choice or to help out The Banks family, a family who recently lost two children in the Cantonment area to a drunk driver.
