Robbie May Duck Mims

Robbie May (Duck) Mims, 91, born in Tallapoosa, Alabama on July 20, 1925, and a resident of Pensacola since 1957, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017. After working at Monsanto for 23 years, she retired from Monsanto in 1980. Following her retirement from Monsanto, Robbie was a volunteer at Pensacola Baptist Hospital as a hostess in the Surgery and Outpatient Surgery Waiting Rooms for 15 years. Robbie was a long-time member of both Oakcrest Baptist Church and, more recently, Pine Summit Baptist Church. She was active in several programs at both churches including attending and teaching in the Sunday School and Training Union programs. Robbie was married to Johnny Preston Mims of Shawmut, Alabama. He preceded her in death in September 1986. She is survived by her son Dwight (wife Alexa) of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughter Lauren Mims of Phoenix, Arizona; and great granddaughter Hartley Pike of Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father and mother, Archie and Ella Duck of Alexander City, Alabama; older son Johnny Warren Mims of Plano, Texas; granddaughter Linnie Elizabeth Mims of Plano, Texas; twin brother Rayford Duck of Crestview, Florida; sisters Lulean Coggins of Lafayette, Alabama, Lorene Merritt of Camp Hill, Alabama, and Willie Myrle Wadsworth of Leeds, Alabama; and brother Melvin Blair of Sylacauga, Alabama. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 10:30 AM at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, Florida 32505. Interment will follow at 12:00 noon at Pensacola Memorial Gardens, 7433 Pine Forest Road, Pensacola, Florida 32526. Reverend Donnie Peterson from Pine Summit Baptist Church will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 17, 2017, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.
