Monte Kim Meriwether

Today we honor and celebrate our beloved Monte Kim Meriwether; faithful and loving husband, father, granddaddy, and friend. He was one of six children, born to Billy C. Meriwether and Florence Broxson in Ozark, AL. At the age of 24, he married his soulmate, Elizabeth R. Meriwether, on October 30, 1982. They were blessed with four beautiful girls: Brittani Varonos, Briana Aderhold, Brandi Wallace and Brooke Meriwether. He was a loving, supportive father-in-law to Evangelos Varonos, Alton Aderhold, Chad Wallace, and Peyton Barrios. He cherished every moment with his precious grandchildren: Eli Aderhold, Jaxton Varonos, and Enzo Aderhold. Monte was raised to love the Lord and he gave his life to Christ as a young boy. His love and dedication for God grew even stronger as an adult, and he became a deacon of Marcus Pointe Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Gordon Godfrey, Jr. He also served as a choir member, Middle/High School Youth Leader, and later was a part of the Building Expansion/Renovation Team. His humble, servant’s heart was favored by all and his fun-loving outlook on life brought many lifelong friendships along the way. Being a “Girl Dad” required special skills, but the one skill he possessed best was to protect and provide for each daughter in a unique way. There was nothing in the world he wouldn’t strive to give them. As a child Monte lived in Ensley FL with his 5 brothers and sisters. At the age of 12 he began his first job as a junior construction worker under the guidance of his uncles. He spent much of his high school years with his beloved Grandmother, who had a strong influence on who he became later in life. Upon graduation at Tate High school, he then attended the University of West Florida where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Management on April 27, 1991. Monte moved to Houston, TX to work as Foreman of a commercial construction company. He returned to Pensacola and was later hired as a Federal Civil Service Employee of the Naval Aviation Depot’s (NADEP) Apprenticeship Program. Four years later, he was certified as a Journeyman Sheetmetal Mechanic. After the closure of NADEP, Monte’s Degree in Accounting/Business Management gave him the opportunity to transfer to the Defense Finance and Accounting System (DFAS) and became a Department Supervisor. In 1998, Monte pursued a Subcontractor Construction company with the assistance of a Lead Foreman running the daily field operations. In addition, he worked tirelessly to obtain his General Contractors’ License to allow for a more diverse and robust opportunity for Coastal Specialties, Inc. Upon retirement from DFAS in May 2008, Monte was able to work his business on a fulltime basis. Monte pursued many goals and dreams for his family, but just spending time with them was where he wanted to be. He enjoyed watching Alabama football, domestic travel, and politics. He also enjoyed midnight walks to the fridge. He spent his mornings reading his Bible and knew that God was in control of His life. Monte leaves his family a lifetime of beautiful memories, a love that will sustain them forever and a legacy that will live on through generations. He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy Meriwether and Florence Broxson, brothers Larry Powell and Jeff Meriwether, and sisters Brenda Broxson and Sherry Sandifer. Monte is survived by his wife Elizabeth Meriwether, daughters Brittani Varonos (Evangelos) and Son Jaxton; Briana Aderhold (Mark) and sons Eli and Enzo; Brandi Wallace (Chad); and Brooke Meriwether (Peyton Barrios); brother Ricky Meriwether and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and beloved friends. Visitation will be Friday, September 10, 2021, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM. Pastor Gordon Godfrey will be officiating. Interment will be at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mark Aderhold, Son in law, Chad Wallace, Son in law, Evangelos Varonos, Son in law, Peyton Barrios, Son in law, Casey Broussard, Nephew, Jay Pruss, Nephew.
