Mildred Jeanette (Mickler) Thompson

Mildred “Mimi” Jeanette (Mickler) Thompson died on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at home. She was 89 years old. Mildred was born in Troy, Alabama, on November 14, 1927, the fourth child of Palmer William and Katie Lou (Grimes) Mickler. Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Bart Thompson, Jr.; her parents; and three brothers, Lester Owen Mickler, Sr., Lloyd Franklin Mickler, and LaRue Coston Mickler. She is survived by her younger sister, Shirley Ann (Mickler) Blount of Pensacola; two nieces, Ginger Faye Spicuzza of Jacksonville, Florida, Tammy Susan Templeton (Bob) of Pensacola; and a nephew, Lester Owen Mickler, Jr., of Pensacola; four great-nieces, Brooke Ashley Dickinson, Lindsay Gerilyn Townsend, Sara Elizabeth Templeton, and Brianna Alyce Seay-Lathrop; three great-great nephews, two great-great nieces, and one great-great niece to be born. Mildred married the love of her life, Daniel Bart Thompson, Jr., on October 18, 1945. As Jehovah's Witnesses, they devoted their lives in full-time service to Jehovah. They entered the special pioneer work and were assigned to Philadelphia, Mississippi, on January 1, 1963. Then in 1965, Mildred happily supported Bart as he entered the circuit work. In 1976, she was privileged to accompany Bart in his new assignment to the district work. Due to the declining health of Mildred's parents and Bart's own health issues, they left the traveling work, and settled in Pensacola in the late 1980s. After Bart's death in 2000, Mildred continued in the special pioneer work. At the time of her death, she had been a special pioneer for 54 years. Mildred truly loved talking to people about Jehovah, his kingdom under Jesus Christ's rule, the resurrection hope, and the promise of a paradise earth in the near future. Mildred was a member of the East Hill Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She loved participating in congregation activities and associating with her spiritual family. She loved reading the Bible and often did extensive research to understand the deeper things contained in the scriptures. Mildred developed many close relationships during her lifetime. People were drawn to her kind, loving, and friendly disposition. A heartfelt “thank you” is expressed to the many friends who supported and loved Mildred during her lifetime, and to those who visited, called, sent cards, prayed for, cared for, and made inquiries during her illness. She loved you all very much! A special “thank you” goes to the Emerald Coast Hospice staff who provided outstanding service, and displayed compassion and kindness for both Mildred and her family during her illness.
