Mary Elizabeth Bradner

Mary E. Bradner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Mary died peacefully in her home on Monday, February 26, 2018, just two weeks before celebrating her 97th birthday! She lived a long life surrounded by many loved ones and was a strong-willed woman who inspired us all. Her home was the center of family functions for many years and she made us all feel welcomed and loved. Holidays will never be the same. Mary volunteered at the Navy Hospital and was a member of Bridge and Garden Clubs. Her family came first, though, and she spent countless hours supporting children and grandchildren through dance lessons, volleyball and softball tournaments, horseback riding, rodeos in Houston, cheerleading and baton twirling, spelling bees, graduations, weddings and countless other adventures! Mary was married to Walter Bradner, Sr. for 75 years! Mary and Walter moved to Pensacola from Charleston, South Carolina in 1956. She attended First Christian Church and was a charter member of Westwood Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ethel Curran (Honey and Sugar); her son, Walter Bradner, Jr. and two grandchildren, Diane Kaska and Gary Chalker. Left behind to honor her memory are: Walter L. Bradner, Sr.; daughters, Martha Wade, Linda Jones, Elizabeth Wilson (Randall), Terri Alvarez (Phil); granddaughters, Michelle Odom (Dale), Ashley Alvarez (Brian), Nicole Vincent (Brad), Anna Powell (JP); great-grandchildren, Meagan Jones, Madison Blackwell, Kristin and Michael Kaska; three nieces and one nephew. The family would like to thank mom’s caregivers who watched over her for the past two years, providing not only physical care, but also patience, love and understanding; Jessica Bunsee, Gloria Sigler, Pat Simmons and Eileen Winkleman. Also thank you to Regency Hospice for helping the family through her final week here on earth. Pallbearers will be Phil Alvarez, Randall Wilson, Dale Odom, Jonathan Powell and Brian Webb. Visitation will be Monday, March 5, 2018 beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Reverend Ed Norris will be officiating.
