Lois Roy Tomlinson

Lois R Tomlinson, one of 5 children born on May 2, 1925 in Holley, Florida to Esther and William (Will) Bengtson was reunited with her loved ones, (preceded in death), on December 6, 2019. She was the last one in her immediate family to go see Jesus and her eternal home. She had two sisters whom she dearly loved and missed, Inez White and Hazel Stowers, along with her two brothers Cleve and Bill Bengtson. Lois had 9 children, four of which precede her in death, a set of infant twins, and 2 sons, Robert (Robbie) Neilson and Joseph Roy. She was survived by Karen Stetz-(Steve Stetz), Lois Waldman-(Donald Waldman), Linda Rains, Jodi Richardson-(Robert Richardson), Kevin Roy-(Vickie Biggs Roy), and daughter in law Zinda Roy. Lois had fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and numerous great great grandchildren plus extended family, too many to mentioned but just as loved. Lois at an early age lived in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and won many competitive swim metals. She also worked at Staff”s Bed and Breakfast before marrying her first husband Neil Neilson who was in the United States Coast Guard. Moving forward with her life story she met and married Bernard Roy, a carpenter, and moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Where she resided for 27 years. During this time she finished her primary education and continued to further her career with night courses to become a Cafeteria Manager for the Broward County School District, where she retired. Upon retiring she moved back to Pensacola to be with family and there she met the love of her life, Hurley Melton from Foley Alabama. Their love of dancing took off and they made their mark at the Foley Community Center, Elks, and the Groto Hall in Pensacola. They were later married and made so many friends and memories. Their marriage was short lived, as Hurley passed away of heart failure. Lois remained in Pensacola and with time met retired Cdr. Alva “Tom” Tomlinson of the U.S. Navy. For years they traveled all four corners of the U.S. in their motor coach seeing the beautiful side of retirement. They continued with dancing making friends and to this day they are still a topic at the American Legion and VFW Hall. Lois’ love of dancing was a force. She looked forward to every single one. She was known as the picture of elegance and class with her sparkle and fashion. Her dance friends she made along the way meant the world to her. So Mom, you will be missed and you are so loved but if you have the choice to sit it out or dance…We hope you dance! Visitation will be Wednesday, December 11, 2019, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM. Pastor Brian Kinsey will be officiating. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, FL, on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at 10:00 AM.
