Leota Seagraves Lee

On July 10, 2018, surrounded by family, Leota Seagraves Lee peacefully left this world for her eternal home in heaven. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, companion, and friend, who filled the lives of all those she loved with laughter and song. Leota made her love for God and people evident in the way that she spent her time concerned about and caring for her friends and family. Leota spent her life as a homemaker, always putting others before herself. She was a great cook and was known for her fabulous cakes and pies. In her later years, she delighted in becoming “Nanny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a playful sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh with jokes and songs. She wrote original songs and became the life of the party when she shared them. She also loved to sing hymns, tell stories of her life as a young girl, and share God’s love with everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Lela Seagraves, four of her beloved brothers and sisters, and longtime companion Howland Clark Quinby. She is survived by her brother, L.D. Seagraves (Bernell) of Murray, Kentucky; her children, Jerry Clayton Lee of Granbury, TX, Sherry Lee Holmes (Sammy) of Knoxville, TN, and Karol Lee Holifield (Richard) of Gulf Breeze, FL, as well as their father Jerry Lee of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Nicholas Lee (Melissa) of Granbury, TX, Jeremy Lee (Joyee) of Atlanta, GA, Rachel Beauchamp (Brady) of Glen Rose, TX, Sanner Holmes of Knoxville, TN, Tyler Holmes of Nashville, TN, Emily Carpenter (Jordan) of Memphis, TN, Hannah Holifield of Birmingham, AL, and Madeline Holifield of Gulf Breeze, FL; and great-grandchildren, Parker Lee, Bryson Lee, Arianni Lee, Morgan Beauchamp, Molly Beauchamp, Meg Robertson, Eliza Carpenter, and Benson Carpenter. She loved a host of other friends and extended family members who will remember her fondly. The family would like to thank the loving caregivers Leota had during her battle with Parkinson’s disease, as well as Regency Hospice and The Haven of Our Lady of Peace. The compassionate care she received in her final years of her valiant struggle with Parkinson’s was a blessing to Leota and all who love her. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., with the family receiving visitors at a reception immediately following in the church music suite. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leota’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or mailed directly to The Haven of Our Lady of Peace at 1900 Summit Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32503.
