John Edwin Stamoulis

Proceeded in death by his mother, Hazel Fatheree (step father- Charles Fatheree), Father- Constantine "Gus" Stamoulis He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy "Cucka" Stamoulis; Step Mother, Giannoula Stamoulis; Children, John Michael/ Maddalena Stamoulis, Bridgett/ Chris Senna, Cindy/ Martin SanAgustin; Two Sisters, Connie Knight and Patricia Health; Six Grandchildren, Apryl/ Sean Mena, Todd/ Shianna Simpson, Aaron Simpson, Zachary Senna, Christina "Nina" SanAgustin and Christian SanAgustin, and Five great grandchildren, Sean "SJ" Mena Jr., Colibri Mena, Conner Simpson, Kaiden Simpson, Brantley Simpson. And many more nieces and nephews that he loved very much. John was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida where, as a teenager, he met and fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Dorothy "Cucka" Kennedy. On March 16, 1978 John and Cucka were married and they just celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary in 2019. At 23:25 on July 13, 2019 he lost his battle with cancer in the most peaceful way possible, holding the hand of his soulmate while she covered him in prayers. One of John's favorite memories as a child was going to his Dad, Gus', grocery store in the mornings before school. He often spoke about how he would sit on the counter and talk about everything going on in his life while watching his Dad make him fresh peaches and cream for breakfast. As an adult he enjoyed being on the water in his canoe and kayaking with his wife. John loved being out on his boats, one of which he affectionately named "Cucka too", fishing with his family and friends. Afterward, he liked to have a big fish fry of the daily catch. From the time he was a teen, winning the heart of Cucka stirring up dirt on his first one, until he was an older man cruising on his comfy Harley, he has always enjoyed an open road and his motorcycles. John had so many friends he rode with and he loved each and every minute he spent with them. John enjoyed the outdoors and finally owned the perfect spot to play on. In his later years he found and bought "Rocky Creek Retreat". This was where he would often spend time with Cucka, his children and grandchildren "roughing it" in his deluxe cabin in the woods, riding his 4-wheeler on his property and catching the biggest tiny pin fish you have ever seen in his river. As a hobby John was a self-appointed chef and foodie and had the pictures to prove it. If you were ever around him you probably saw a delicious slide show of the wonderful masterpieces he created. Being around John you also would have noticed he enjoyed classic rock and "oldies but goodies" music. He never let a small detail like not knowing the tune or lyrics of a song get in the way of singing. John was very proud of his job as a corrections officer. He loved each of his brothers and sisters that worked by his side and he felt honored to have them there. He often spoke highly about all of his co-workers and thought of them as extended family. John was a great man. He was a loving husband, father, "Papa" and "Great Papa" all in one. He will never be forgotten, always be missed and forever be loved! The Stamoulis family would like to thank all of the amazing staff at Sacred Heart Hospital and the Cancer Center for the joy you all brought John in his hardest moments and the wonderful care and love you showed him and our family! Visitation will be Thursday, July 18, 2019 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Bellview beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the rosary at 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Reverend Fr.
