John Michael Brown

John Michael Brown passed from this earth on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 10:14 PM at his home in Pensacola, Florida. John was known to friends and family alike as simply JB. A nickname that was given to him as a child by his loving mother, Helen. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 8, 1956, John moved with his family to Pensacola, Florida, two years later, where he remained a lifelong native. He was the tenth child out of 12 children, born into a Roman Catholic family. John attended Hallmark Elementary, St. Stephen’s Catholic School, as well as Brentwood Middle School, Pensacola High School, and Pensacola State College. For many years he enjoyed traveling with his camera across the United States, and Canada as a career. John loved biking, art, travel and photography. But above all else He absolutely loved music. John went through his life with a song in his head, and a dance in his steps. John was preceded in death by his two loving parents, Lawrence R. Brown and Helen E. Brown; his loving sisters, Alycia Graf, Cecillia Brown (CC), Helen Lajuanie, and Irene Shantz; two brothers, William Redden (Buddy) and Christopher Brown (Chris); grandson, Enoch Murphy; as well as his nieces, Nancy Lynn (Brown) Helton and Loriann Parfait, and nephew Nicholas VanHoosen. John’s surviving relatives include his brother, Lawrence R. Brown, Jr.; sisters, Jenny Brown, Marjorie Smith, Martha Parfait, and Mary Hayes (Baby); two estranged children, Jon-Michael Brown and Michelle Murphy (Mimi); three grandchildren, Melody Murphy, Lyric Murphy and Brooklyn Murphy; loving niece, Melanie Lee Smith, who was more of a daughter to him than a niece; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mourners are respectfully asked to please gather in their vehicles at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, at 1:30 PM. The funeral procession will then escort John’s remains to St. John’s Cemetery, located at 301 North “G” Street.
