James Edward Jones

James “Jimmy” Jones, 63, of Chumuckla, Florida lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Jimmy was a native of Chumuckla and grew up in a large farming family, along with his brother Steven. Jimmy was a graduate of Chumuckla High School, class of 1979. He worked at the Brewton Paper Mill for 32 years and retired from Georgia Pacific in 2017. Jimmy had a creative and adventurous spirit. He had many hobbies and interests including bodybuilding, powerlifting, mixed martial arts, fishing, coin collecting, woodworking and flintknapping. Jimmy enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife of 23 years, Renee. Jimmy and Renee's love story began on the very first day of 8th grade, a youthful connection that would define the rest of her life. Though their paths diverged for a time, destiny brought them back together, and they were finally married in 2002. For Renee, Jimmy was more than just a husband; he was the enduring love of her life, a steadfast partner whose presence brought her immeasurable joy and comfort. Their reconnection was a testament to a love that never faded, proving that some bonds are simply meant to be. With a demeanor as steady and unyielding as a stone wall, Jimmy was a man of few words and a stoic expression that rarely betrayed his inner thoughts. Yet, beneath his quiet exterior was a keen observer with a dry wit, whose actions and brief, perfectly timed remarks sparked countless humorous stories that will be retold for generations. He was a man who lived simply and deliberately, leaving behind a legacy not of grand gestures, but of quiet strength, integrity, and a treasure trove of anecdotes that will continue to bring laughter to all who remember him. Jimmy’s greatest joy was his family. As a beloved dad and “Paw”, he will be deeply missed. His children and grandchildren will forever cherish his tender heart, his big, enveloping hugs, and his collection of corny jokes that never failed to make them smile. Jimmy was preceded in death by his grandparents; Ruby and Bob Jones, and parents Kiyoko Tanaka and Doyle Jones. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Renee Correll Jones; children Beth Jones, Mandy (Dusty) Jones Mathews, Mary (Kenneth) Clemmons, Corey (Kristi) Wiley, Shane (Corinn) Wiley; aunts, Mary Ellen Jones and Doris Diamond; brothers, Steven (Gwen) Jones, Charlie Conner, Ira Jones and Tommy Tanaka; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Jimmy will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Visitation at 12:00 PM followed by the service at 1:00 pm. Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 South Highway 29, Cantonment, is entrusted with arrangements.
