Hal Marvin Patton

Our beloved, Hal Marvin Patton, 75, of Pensacola, FL, passed away May 23rd, 2024. He was born in McArthur, Ohio on September 19th, 1948 to Hearld and Gladys Patton. He spent his childhood in Hamden, Ohio. He attended Hamden Elementary, and Hamden High School, graduating in 1966. He then attended Ohio Valley Christian College, obtaining an Associates Degree in History. Hal then transferred to Rio Grande College, where he was then drafted into the military (Navy). Hal began his honorable 30 year military career as a Cryptological Technician (R-brancher) in Great Lakes, IL in May of 1970. He then served in Pensacola FL, Skaggs Island CA, and Adak AK. His next duty station was in Edzell, Scotland. Hal spent 3 separate tours here and was unequivocally his favorite. During his first tour in Edzell, Hal met the love of his life, Carol Campbell. They have been married for 48 years. After his first tour in Edzell, Hal was stationed back in Pensacola, FL. Then he served aboard the USS La Salle. Hal then returned back to Edzell for the second time from ‘84-’87. After this Hal stayed in the United Kingdom and participated in an exchange with the Royal Navy, where he was stationed on the HMS Mercury, England. He returned to Pensacola after completing this exchange and after another tour finally came back to his beloved Edzell, and was the last Command Master Chief of the base, before its closure in 1997. Hal then retired at Corry Station, Pensacola FL, in 2000, as a Command Master Chief. Hal loved to watch all sports, but his favorites were The Ohio State Buckeyes football and University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball. Hal also loved to play both basketball and golf. He had a keen love for ice cream. Hal was always up to go out to eat and enjoy the company of friends and family. Hal was preceded in death by his parents Hearld and Gladys Patton; little brother, Gary Lee Patton; uncle, Keith Waters; sister-in-law, Dr. Christina Campbell; his favorite Westie, Callum, and many other beloved family members and friends. Hal is survived by his wife, Carol Campbell Patton; son, Jamie (Jennifer) Patton, of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Linsay (Adrian) Whitley, of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Morgan Patton, Emily Patton, Brooke Patton, Samuel Whitley, Kinsley Patton, and Benjamin Whitley; his brand new great grandson, Augustus Escobedo; sister, Cathy (David-deceased) Gardner, of Jackson, OH; sister, Vicki Patton, of Hamden, OH; brother-in-law, Dr. John Campbell, of Tempe, AZ; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be Friday, May 31, 2024, at 12:30 PM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Visitation will be Thursday, May 30, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Funeral Home. Chaplain David Gibson will be officiating. Interment will be in Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, Florida. Pallbearers will be Jamie Patton, Adrian Whitley, Andrew Campbell, Stuart Campbell, Darren Waters and Terry Gardner. Hal is deeply loved and sorely missed by all who know and love him.
