Donald Robert Snyder, Jr.

Donald R. Snyder Jr. was born in Holt, Michigan February 25, 1933 and died January 19, 2021 in Pensacola Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald Robert Ketchum Snyder, Sr. and Beatrice Fay (Potter) Snyder-Bixler, Brother Richard E. Snyder, Sister Colleen J. Nicholls, and former wife Carolyn Snyder-Drew. He is survived by his wife Linda Burns-Snyder, sons Donald R. Snyder, III (Terri), Rev. Wm. Scott Snyder (Cheryl), daughter Susan L. Patterson (Paule), brother Joe E. Bixler (Christine) and sisters Tina Bea Bixby (Richard) and Sue Snyder Gerard; Linda’s children Danny Burns (Sommer) and Denee Burns Hobbs. Don and Linda were blessed with 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren between them. Don graduated from Pensacola High School- Class of 1951 and was also a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Naval Depot -Pensacola as a Foreign Military Sales Manager with 35 ½ years of service. During his Civil Service career, he also held many positions providing management and technical support to the Fleet, USAF Armament Laboratory, US Army Rock Island Arsenal, US Coast Guard, and NASA in the Mercury Gemini Apollo Mission Recovery Program. He retired as Foreign Military Sales Manager, providing expertise to many countries in South East Asia, the Middle East, and South America. He graduated from the Navy Senior Executive Management Development Program and was awarded the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award upon his retirement in 1988. Dad was an avid mullet fisherman and stayed active after retirement, helping neighbors, working at Ross Hardware on Innerarity Point, and continued working as Contractor support for Navy FMS programs. Our Family was truly blessed to have Don as Father, Father-In-Law, Brother, and Son. He was a gentle soul that touched everyone’s heart. Services will be officiated by Rev. Stephen Linck with visitation to be held at Faith Chapel South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, FL, on 29 January 2021 at 11am to 12pm, followed by procession and graveside service at Barrancas National Cemetery.
