Carroll Abraham Clark

Carroll Abraham Clark, known by many as “CC”, passed away July 28, 2023. He was born on August 16, 1933 in Allenhurst, Georgia. Carroll grew up and lived in Richmond Hill, Georgia until he joined the United States Marine Corps. After the Marines, he moved to Pensacola, Florida where he met and married the love of his life, Shirley Jean Henderson. Carroll held many, many occupations over the years. Early on, he had various sales positions, such as R. L. Polk Publishing (city directories), Encyclopedia Britannica, Kirby Vacuum Cleaners, and Seacoast Supply (dry goods). At one time, he owned a used car lot, plumbing business, and was a partner in a home construction business. Later, he traveled the U.S. and world working as a pipefitter/welder/boilermaker. He also built many personal homes over the years. After retiring from industrial work, he bought and maintained rental property. He personally maintained all of his rental property up into his 80’s. Carroll was one of the hardest working people you will ever meet. He was not content unless he was busy. If he caught everything up, he would just come up with some new project to build. In his spare time, he loved to work in vegetable garden, feed his chickens, and play Rummy 500 with anyone he could muster up to play with him. He loved going to Bluegrass Festivals and listening to Gospel music. He watched Ronnie Joyce’s Country Gospel show every day and was upset when he had to miss it for some reason. He was one of the most generous people you will ever meet. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Above everything, he loved his family with every ounce of his being. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pharis Clark and Martha Clark Spradley; sister, Juanita Clark Strickland; and his special “friend” Patches. He is survived by his wife of 67 1/2 years, Shirley; five children, Carol Gentry (Harry), Cheryl Blalock, Barbara Ward (Ronnie), Donna Walker (Mike), and Mark Clark (Kristy); seven grandchildren, Karry Ward (Laura), Matthew Ward (Lindsay), Jessica Unger (Jonathan), Rebecca Nott (Jeremy), Taylor Walker, Leila Clark, Maylin Clark; six great grandchildren, Ryan Ward, Dylan Ward, Braleigh Ward, Cooper Unger, Barrett Unger, and Scarlet Unger; and his brother, Pharis Clark, Jr. Pallbearers: Mark S. Clark, James Clark, Benjamin Clark, Mike Walker, Ronnie Ward, Karry Ward, Mathew Ward, and Don Williams Honorary Pallbearers: Harry Gentry, Pharis Clark Jr., and Mark E. Clark. Visitation services for Carroll Abraham Clark will begin at 12:00 noon, Friday, August 4, 2023 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South (100 Beverly Parkway). Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Wilbert Reed officiating. Carroll will be laid to rest at Clopton Cemetery.
