Betty Jean Coleman

Betty J. Coleman, resident of Pensacola, FL went to be with her Lord on October 29, 2018 at the age of 74. She was born in Pensacola, FL to the late James Blackmon and Mamie L. Blackmon. Betty was an Escambia County School Bus Driver. Betty was also a longtime employee at Armstrong World Industries where she had to sadly retire due to losing her eyesight. She loved her job and especially the friends she made over her 23 years of service. Mom always had that smile that would light up a room as well as making others smile. She never met a stranger. Mom loved working in the yard, loved her roses, but mostly loved sitting in her swing. Her favorite thing to do was to go to church. She loved going to Biloxi with family and friends. Her favorite holidays was to celebrate with her family was Christmas, but overall any holiday to celebrate was the best. Betty was a loving mother of her two children. She raised them being strong, hardworking and independent. Mom always helped and put others first before her own needs. As a mother, sister, and friend she will be sorely missed. Mom was loved by so many friends. She loved Sundays, always excited to go to worship and sing her favorite songs. She was preceded in death by her father, James Blackmon; mother, Mamie L. Blackmon; baby brother; brother-in-law, Danny Wood. Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory of her two children, Tina (Anthony) Harrison and Jimmy (Angie) Coleman; sister, Catherine Wood; grandchildren, Brittany Phillips, Brianna Coleman, Jessica Harrison; great-grandchildren, Ryan Phillips, Riley Phillips and Aaliyah Shields; many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Pastor Keith Mott officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery, Pensacola, FL. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the funeral home Pallbearers will be Bobby Wood, Rodney Archer, Terry Palmer, Roberts Phillips, Ugene Francis and Danny Tourat.
