Barbara Ann Glover

Barbara Ann (Sweet) Glover passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2019, at the age of 85, following a rich and fulfilling life. She was born to Norman Earl and Ellen Agnes (Conley) Sweet on August 13, 1933, in Williamstown, Massachusetts. A farm girl from western Massachusetts, Barbara grew up to be a strong and capable woman who was instrumental in the raising of her 5 siblings following the untimely death of her mother. Steadfast in her faith in God and filled with an abiding joy for the simple pleasures in life. Barbara was a person who valued the love of family and friends. She graduated from Williamstown High School in 1952; anyone who has known her throughout her life would have certainly chuckled at her having been nominated as “Most Quietest” in her senior yearbook. Following graduation, Barbara entered nursing school, where she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) William Glover who she married on August 1, 1954. Together they shared 65 years of love and happiness. As a Navy wife, Barbara raised four children and managed the home front throughout several overseas deployments and transfers across the country, from California to Maine, until finally settling down in Pensacola upon Bob’s retirement from the Navy. They were blessed with finding their church home and spiritual family at Lakeview Baptist Church. The most cherished roles that Barbara played was that of a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and caregiver. She was a friend to many and will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, kindness and her ability to make everyone smile. She is preceded in death by her mother and father; sister, Cynthia Sweet Raymond; brother, Norman Sweet and daughter-in-law, Patricia Glover. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert William Glover; two sons, George Lee Glover and wife, Lori, of Wichita, KS; and Robert Allan Glover, of Pensacola, FL; two daughters, Lisa Ann Drasutis and husband, David, of Pensacola, FL and Beverly Jean Adams and husband, Nick, of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Janelle, Lily, Melanie, Jeremy, Christina, Violette and eight great grandchildren; her siblings, Shirley Jenrick, of Newark, NY, Phyllis Ely Locke, of Ridgefield, CT, and Elmer Sweet, of Williamstown, MA. Funeral Services will be held at Lakeview Baptist Church, 1100 West Michigan Avenue, Pensacola, FL, on July 29, 2019 at 11:30 AM. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 11:30 AM. Pastor Charles Mitchell will be officiating. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL.
