    William Allen 'Buddy' Bannatyne

    September 5, 1939 - September 6, 2012

William Allen Bannatyne (aka Buddy, Chuckwagon, Peepaw), born September 5, 1939, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012, at his home in Pensacola surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia but always considered Pensacola home. Buddy served his country in the Navy before returning to Pensacola permanently. He retired after 36 years from Monsanto where he was a member of the Fire Department and the Industrial Hygiene Department. He enjoyed competitive shooting and was a master marksman...a skill he taught and shared with younger generations. Buddy hosted decades of hunting seasons from his cabin in Wing, Alabama which was always open to his many friends and family. Buddy was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William Donald Bannatyne and Velma Hazel Vinson. Buddy is survived by his daughter Velma (Ben) Richards; grandchildren William Allen Scott, Winston Joseph Riley, Hannah Leigh Richards, Bryce Elizabeth Richards, Josey Lucinda Richards; and sister Nancy (Don) Brooks of Phoenix Arizona. Buddy was a loving uncle to Tracie Sommers, Hollie Green and Neil Brooks. Buddy was a devoted Christian and practiced his faith throughout his lifetime. You are invited to join Buddy’s family at a celebration of his life Friday, September 14, 2012, 6:30 p.m., at his church home, Klondike Baptist Church, 7201 Klondike Rd., Pensacola, FL.
