Wilbur Vernon Pugh

Wilbur “Bill” V. Pugh, 95, was born in Sedalia, MO. He served in WWII as a Navy Enlisted Pilot with PBY-91 and was a lone survivor when his patrol plane was shot down in 1942 in the South Pacific while tracking the Japanese Task Force. “I attribute my rescue to the THE ALMIGHTY and the answered prayers of my loved ones.” W. V. Pugh He retired from the Navy in 1955 and federal civil service Naval Air Rework Facility in 1980. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a longtime member of the West Pensacola Baptist Church and The Silver Eagles. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth B. Pugh. He is survived by three daughters, Gwen Owen, Gloria Gravette and Patricia Owens; two sons, Ronald and Donald Pugh; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
