    Wayland Ellis Barnes

    November 13, 1945 - February 24, 2022

Wayland Ellis Barnes, 76, of Molino, FL went to his heavenly home on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Wayland was born in Augusta, Georgia to James and Elma Barnes on November 13, 1945. As a young man, he served in the Navy for four years which included volunteering to fight in the Vietnam War as a 3rd class Gunner’s Mate. He was proud to serve his country and made sure everyone knew it was an honor and a privilege. After the Navy, he went on to work as an electrician at NAS and retired after 25 years. Wayland was known as being funny and generous. A great Christian man who loved the Lord. He also loved his family and would do anything for them. He and his wife, Pat, raised their four children and went on to have 10 grandchildren, who he adored. He likes to pick the guitar and loved Alabama football. He grew a garden every year that always thrived and he raised hogs for many years. He was a handy man and could fix anything. He’ll be remembered for his unwavering faith and great sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Elma Barnes and his brother, Jimmy Barnes. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Barnes; three sons, Bobby, Clayton (Samantha), and Travis (Valarie) Barnes; daughter, Lynn Barnes; and ten grandchildren: Breanna, Ashlyn, Brandon, Jake, Gage, Kylie, Chase, Lexi, Payton, and Annalyse. Pallbearers will be David Fowler, Gary Vaughn, Gene Godwin, Kenneth Flowers, Glyndon Harne, and Don Watson
