Obituary for Thomas Lee Bocox

Thomas Lee Bocox, 84, of Pensacola, FL, went to meet his Lord and Savior on March 30, 2021.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Pkwy, Pensacola, FL 32505.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with the Jake Bondurant officiating. Burial will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Faith Chapel.

Thomas Lee Bocox was born in San Pedro, CA to Thomas Albert and Rosa Lee Bocox on August 23, 1936. He married Betty on July 8, 1966 in Birmingham, AL. They were married for 54 years. Thomas proudly served our country in the Navy for 24 ½ years. He later worked for the Navy as a civilian for an additional 27 years. During his time in the Navy, he served on 4 aircraft carriers, his favorite being the U.S.S. Enterprise. Thomas was a veteran of the Vietnam War. During the war, he served on the Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron, which was ordered to clear the Haiphong Harbor in Vietnam and the Suez Canal, and was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation Award. He was also awarded 8 additional Vietnam campaign medals.

One of Thomas’ greatest loves was his family, especially his grandkids. Each summer, they would stay with him and Betty for a week, and the fun began. Trips to the beach, go-kart races, Sonic ice cream runs, and hours and hours of card games were some of the many ways they enjoyed spending time with one another. They had so much fun together, that Thomas was deemed “The World’s Greatest Granddad” on a hat that was briefly lost, but thankfully later found.

Throughout the years, Thomas enjoyed woodworking, watching Alabama football, playing softball and bowling in leagues with Betty. When Bobby and Ray were young, Thomas founded and coached them in the Lexington Park Crusaders little league baseball team. Thomas was also an excellent dancer and loved to laugh. If he teased you, then he definitely liked you!

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bocox, and three brothers, Russell Bocox, Floyd Bocox and Robert Bocox, and two sisters, Norma Miller and Helen Leach.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Betty. Children and spouses: Ray Hall, Bobby Hall (Julia), and Mary Wilde-Miller (Brian). Grandchildren: Lacy Hall, Kyle Hall, Carloyn Boyce (Jason), Rebecca Hall, Judson Wilde and Cooper Wilde. Great-Grandchildren: Madison Smith, Dakota Smith and Jada Smith.

Memorials may be sent to Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.

The family of Thomas wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Solaris HealthCare Pensacola.
