Sidney Scott Southard

October 31, 1944 - March 25, 2022

Sidney “Bucky” Southard (77), of Berrydale, FL went home to God, his beloved wife and family on March 25, 2022. Bucky was born on October 31, 1944, in Pensacola, FL to Burle and Vernell Southard. He graduated from Pensacola High School then immediately joined the United States Army where he served an honorable career spanning over 20 years. Upon retirement, Bucky moved back to his hometown and worked many years with the Pensacola Police Department achieving supervisory status over dispatch and communications. He finished his career with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s office retiring in 2017. Bucky’s greatest love was serving others and being a father to three children, grandparent to six children and great grandparent to two children. Bucky is preceded in death by wife, Sharon (2018), grandson, Gage (2020), parents Burle and Vernell, sisters Sally and Ruby, brothers Jimmy and Rocky and nephews Charlie “Tattoo” and Timmy “TimPaw”. Bucky is survived by his siblings, Sam “Butch” of Pace, FL, Bernita “Bunky” Fuller of Atlanta, GA and Burle of Crestview, FL; sons, Billy of Scranton, PA, Darin of East Milton, FL, and Aaron of Berrydale, FL; grandchildren, Travis, Sydney, Amanda, Alexa, Samantha; and great grandchildren, Emmalynn and Adelaide. The family expresses deep gratitude to the staff of the Santa Rosa Medical Center Intensive Care Unit / Emergency room and Emerald Coast Hospice. Rest easy now Pop / PaPaw. Be with God, Mom and Gage in the Kingdom. We will take the watch from here. Per his wishes there will be no memorial nor funeral.
