Ruth Virginia Cotton

Ruth Virginia Cotton, 92, passed away September 4, 2012. She was born in Winthrop, MA January 6, 1920 and moved to Pensacola in 1950. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Smyrna Baptist Church. She and her close friend, Nora Dickens, looked forward to visiting the sick and shut-ins at her church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Maxie “M.E.” Cotton, who passed away in 1983, and four siblings. She is survived by four children, Bob Cotton (Jean) of Morganton, NC, Ronnie Cotton (Diane) of Pace, FL, Bonnie Treutel (James) of Pace, FL and Paul Cotton of Pensacola, FL; seven grandchildren, Debbie Talbert (Charles), Tracy Arner (David), Erica Colley (Clif), Paula Hunnemeyer (Scott), Sheila Clements (Aubrey), Jason Cotton (Rebecca) and Angie Pariso (Craig); fourteen great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Voncille Hicks and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with the service following at 2:00 pm. Pastor Bill Adams will be officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery Monday, September 10, 2012, at 2:00 pm. The family would like to thank Health Center of Pensacola and the staff on C Wing for the care and love they gave to her during her 2 ½ year stay there.
