    Royce Danny Leigh Wood

    February 27, 1939 - January 18, 2012

    Danny R. Wood, age 72 of Pensacola, FL passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Danny was of the Baptist faith. He was in the concrete business for many years and was also a welder. He worked with his son, Bobby for several years at Soutland Clearing and Hauling. . Danny loved hunting, fishing and NASCAR; especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr; he enjoyed country music and sitting around the campfire. Next to his family, he spent much of his time taking care of his maroon Chevrolet ,” keeping her clean”. The family would like to thank Covenant Hospice and especially his caregivers, his wife Catherine; his “baby” Caylynn; his grandson, Mikey and his neighbor and friend, Bill Brock who was a wonderful help to his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Vorzona Wood and his mother, Mildred Wood; sister, Michelle Woodward and his special pet, Broozer aka The Man. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Catherine Wood; son, Bobby Wood (Karen); daughter, Cathy Francis (Eugene); grandchildren, Brad Wood (Brook), Mikey Cooley, Jr. and Caylynn Francis; great-granddaughter, Raina Wood and one great-granddaughter on the way in March; step-mom, Erma Lahr; siblings, Jane Whitfield (Don L.), Fran Blanton, Sam Wood, Sharon Thorton, Charles Wood (Nancy) and Gail Wilcox; sister-in-law, Betty Coleman; his special pets, Max and Emma; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many longtime friends. Pallbearers will be Mikey Cooley, Eugene Francis, Brad Wood, Jimmy Coleman, Bo Blanton and Bubba Wood. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Thomas and Danny Smith. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Pastor Don Polk officiating. Interment will follow at Eastern Gate Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME SOUTH, 100 Beverly Pkwy, is handling arrangements.
