Rose Billy Rankin was born on January 13, 1919 to Julius and Ruth Billy. She died on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Dillard Rankin; brothers, Francis and Paul Billy; sisters, Beatrice Waters and Ruby McCullough. She worked as a commercial artist in Mobile, AL. She was an elementary school teacher and a member of Kappa Pi. She volunteered at West Florida Hospital as a Chaplain. She and her husband were missionaries for the Southern Baptist Mission Board in Arizona and Montana. She was a musician, singer, soloist and entertainer and performed for children and adults at schools, churches and senior citizens homes in the Pensacola, FL area. She was a member of the Airstream WCBBI Club. She was a lover of wildlife and an advocate for their benefit. She loved and worked in her churches. Her passing words were that we should love and care for one another. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to whatever you feel supports caring. Memorial service will be held at Plainview Baptist Church on Monday, April 16, 2012 with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Also, graveside service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens in Mobile, AL on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.. The family would like to thank the staff at West Florida Hospital fourth floor north and the staff of the Specialty Center of Pensacola.
