Robert Laverne Raede Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert “Bob” Raede resided in Cantonment from 1976 until 2016, when he relocated to Gulf Breeze with his daughter, Wendy (Jamie) until his death on July 18, 2022. He was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on November 9, 1928 to Robert and Mary Clancy Raede. He was married for 43 happy, adventurous and loving years to Marjorie Stratford Kempke Raede who preceded him in death in 2006. Also deceased are two sons, Leslie and Leonard Kempke, and his brother Kenneth Raede. Survivors include a sister-in-law Connie Raede, a daughter Wendy (Jamie) Fuller and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Kempke. Grandchildren are: Charles Payne, Kevin, Keith, Kimberly Kempke, and Kellie (Brad) Rupert. Nine great-grandchildren: Brandon, Matthew, Gavin, Sawyer, and Hadley Kempke, Krystal, Bradley, Breanna and Madison Rupert. Nephew, Kenneth Raede Jr., and great nephew Ryan (Randa) Raede. Bob was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951, and after serving 2 years in the Korean police action, he was released into the Army Reserve. He then joined the U.S. Navy and started a career working in the fast-growing field of electronics. After duty stations from Africa to Japan, New England to California and three different ships at sea, Bob and Marge ended up having a 28-year military career at the Naval Education and Training Program Development Center in Pensacola with good memories, and some not so good, but no bitter ones. Along the way, Bob graduated from George Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, passed the Enrollment Agent Test with the Internal Revenue Service, and held the First Class Radio-Telephone License with the RADAR Endorsement with the Federal Communication Commission. Bob was especially proud of attaining the rank of Master Chief. After his retirement in 1979 and into the later years with the addition of more and more grand and great grandchildren, he became known as “Pops” or “Papa”. Papa was loved by all, family and friends, and he loved them all. He was loved by his neighbors who affectionately called “Mr. Bob”. He was the wisest of men, and will carry with him years of wisdom and the hearts of many. At the age of 93 years, surrounded by family, Robert L. Raede Jr. (Pops) peacefully passed into the next life. He will be put to rest beside his loving wife, Marge, at Barrancas National Cemetery NAS Pensacola. Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home, South 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, FL. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm with Monsignor Luke Hunt officiating at the funeral home. Committal services will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery with Deacon Ray Aguado conducting. A reception will follow the committal service at St. Ann Catholic Church 100 Daniel Dr, Gulf Breeze, FL 32562.
