Raymond Allan Etters Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Raymond Allan Etters; also known as Pop and Coach was born on February 3, 1937 in Altoona, PA to Rita Saltzgiver. Our dear one was called away and has gone with the Lord to stay. Ray passed away at West Florida Covenant Care Hospice Center Thursday June 30, 2022 at 12:05am. Ray's family would like to give a special thanks to Care Staff, Counseling on Aging and West Florida Covenant Care Hospice staff and caretakers for being a tremendous source of support and comfort in his last days. His wife Renee is forever grateful for the love and care you gave. Ray went to Altoona High School and married his high school sweetheart, Diana (Martino). From 1963 to 1965 Ray attended Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Math, Physics and Chemistry. From 1972 to 1973 Ray attended Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania obtaining his Master’s degree in Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services. During his early years, Ray played basketball and football while at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. He also played professional football for the Baltimore Colts, semi-professional basketball and served in the U.S. Navy. His passion in life was his family and being an educator and coach for over 40 years. While in Pensacola, Ray taught and coached at Pensacola Junior College, Tate High School, Catholic High School, Escambia High School, and Virginia College. Preceding Ray in death is his loving wife, Diane Etters; his son, Michael Etters; his bothers, Eugene Etters and Charles Williams; his sister, Doris Bates; his mother and father. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Renee Etters; his sisters, Patty Taylor, Theresa Stump; his brothers, Dennis Etters, John Williams Jr; his daughter, Cecila Futral and son, Ray Etters (Sue); his grandchildren, Jenny Pitkin (Anthony), Chris Davis (Trisha), Jason Futral (Dawn), Kaleigh Etters, Kerrie Sanders, Katy Tillery (Justin), Angie Culbertson, Kelley Kirkland, Matthew Kirkland (Jen) and Jeremy Etters; 19 great grandchildren, Tijana (Tiki) Ostojic, Sir John Collins and many wonderful nieces and nephews. The family will receive family and friends at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery located at 1300 E Hayes St, Pensacola, FL 32503 for a service of celebration to be held on Tuesday July 5th at 10am. Immediately following the service family and friends will be welcome to visit and share stories at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church located at 5920 Lillian Hwy, Pensacola, FL 32506 in the fellowship hall room.
