Paul Allen Norvell

December 19, 1930 - March 9, 2022

Paul Norvell departed this life and went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2022. He passed away peacefully at Life Care Center in Pensacola, Florida. Paul was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on December 19, 1930. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master’s from Southwest Baptist University. He came to Pensacola, Florida in 1965 where he served as head coach for the men’s basketball team at Pensacola Junior College from 1968-72 and as an assistant coach from 1965-68. He taught in the Physical Education department at PJC for 30 years retiring in 1995. He was a member of Olive Baptist Church where he served as a long-time deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a lifelong sports fan playing church league basketball to age 65. During his retirement, he coached youth baseball and basketball teams for many years. He is survived by Julia, his beloved wife of 56 years, son Louis (Carolyn) and four grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Olive Baptist Church on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. . In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the YMCA of Northwest Florida (www.ymcanwfl.org) where Paul served as a youth sports coach.
