    Paul Herbert Brown USN (Ret.)

    April 27, 1923 - September 15, 2012

    Paul Herbert Brown, USN (ret.), 89, a resident of Clear Springs, Alabama, passed from this life to the next on Saturday, September 15, 2012. He gave 21 years of his live in service of our country as a Parachute Rigger and toured the world three times. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer of The United Stated Navy in 1963. Following that, he gave another 13 years in Civil Service, working as a Production Controller in the Oxygen Shop aboard Pensacola NAS, as well as for the Apollo Space Program. He was a proud Master Mason and member of Ensley Lodge#278, as well as a member of the Pensacola Valley Scottish Rite Star. In addition, he holds a Grand Cross of Color from the International Order of Rainbow for Girls and was an active supporter of Marvelous Assembly #101 and Escambia Chapter of Order of DeMolay. He is also an Alumni member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, Five Flags Chapter #38 and James M. Tate High School. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Ann Brown; son-in-law, Ken Short; granddaughter, Leah Christine Schaefer; grandson-in-law, Brian Schaefer and great-grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Schaefer, all of Clear Springs, AL; two step-grandsons, Shane K. Short MSG. U.S. Army of Anchorage, AK (Kathleen, Jacqueline, Gabriel, Natalia, and Elijah) and Sean J. Short of Pensacola, FL; brothers, Lamar Brown (Laura) of Pensacola, William Brown (Dawn) of the Villages, FL, Clyde Brown (Sigrid) of Norman, IL., and Carl Brown (Brenda) of Dover, TN as well as numerous extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Pittman Brown; great-grandson, Michael Paul Schaefer; brothers, Daryl Brown, Joseph Brown and Thomas Brown and his sisters, Marie Brown and Shirley Brown. Pallbearers will be Bruce Willey, Kenny Shelby, C.J. Shisk, Tim Maddox, Wes Brown and Keith McNeill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Covenant Hospice and Palliative Care of Pensacola, FL. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Preston Silcox officiating.
