Nora A. Rothermel

Nora A. Rothermel, 74, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, after a short battle with cancer, while surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack, her parents, Clay and Tressie Burford, and two siblings, Marguerite 'Sue' Burford and John Moses Burford. Born in Beckley, West Virginia, Nora was the third of twelve siblings. Upon graduation, she moved to Washington, DC, to become a secretary for the Department of Defense, where she met her husband, Jack, a soldier in the U.S. Army. They traveled the world extensively and had three daughters. They remained happily married until his death in 1989. She enjoyed her years working for the federal government in various positions until she retired in 1989. She then moved to Delaware where she lived until she moved to Navarre, FL, in 2005. She is survived by her three daughters, Dorothy Lynn Maben and her husband, Kenneth, of Navarre, Barbara Suzanne Boemker, and her husband, John, of Union, Kentucky, and Nora Elizabeth 'Becky' Rockwell of Grand Forks, North Dakota; five grandchildren, Scott Rockwell, Nora Boemker, KJ Maben, Jack Rockwell and Steven Boemker; nine siblings, Mary Lou 'Sis' Warren, of West Monroe, Louisiana, Jesse James Burford, of Mansfield, Ohio, David Burford, of Milford, Ohio, Clay Burford of Ashland, Ohio, Sherman Burford of Montgomery, Alabama, Jerry Burford, of Celina, Ohio, Frances West, of Alice, Texas, Sally Jackenheimer, of Nankin, Ohio and Christine Mender of Cambria, Wisconsin; as well as many other nieces and nephews and other family members. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at R. G. Foust Funeral Home in Trevorton, Pennsylvania, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Greenwood Cemetery.
