Myrtice E. Jones

Myrtice Elva Jones, 94, of Gulf Breeze, Florida went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, May 29, 2022. Myrt was born to the late Warnie and Elma (Morris) Johnson in Flomaton, AL on September 19, 1927. She was married to her sweetheart, Robert Jones, for over 50 years and loved raising her family in Pensacola, FL. Not too long after getting married, Myrt was diagnosed with tuberculosis and almost died from the disease. Instead of giving up, she begged God to heal her, and in return, she promised to live the rest of her life for him. Jesus appeared to her at her bedside in her hospital room and healed her body. From that moment on, she honored her promise to him and lived the rest of her life for the Lord, Jesus. Myrt was a proud member of East Brent Baptist Church for over 40 years and was very active in her church and her Sunday School class. Two things were certain about this special lady. She loved Jesus and she loved her family. Her husband Robert opened up their floor covering business in 1950 and she cherished all of her relationships with her employees and friends at Jones Floor Covering, Inc. and also at Floors 2000, Inc. which her son Rocky established in 1999. Myrtice was a loving, praying, generous daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Being “GG” to her great grandkids was probably her favorite role that she had in her life. She was so proud of all of her babies big and small. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Myrt is preceded in death by her parents, Warnie and Elma Johnson; brother, Jack Johnson; sister, Helen Beck; husband, Robert Jones; and children, Suzanne and Rocky Jones. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jason Jones and his wife Rachel, Ashley Davis and her husband Robert, and Alyssa Jones; great grandchildren, Davin and Avery Davis, Jett and Harper Jones; daughter-in-law, Laurie Jones; and dear niece, Brenda Beck. Visitation will be held at 9:30am until the Funeral Service at 10:30am Thursday, June 2, 2022 at East Brent Baptist Church, with Dr. Dale Patterson officiating. Pallbearers will be Kevin Pulford, Robert Hepworth, Steve Faircloth, Rick Turner, Aaron Willis, and Dr. Steve Moehle. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Robbie Jackson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family would like to give special thanks to her sweet and loving caregiver and friend, Terrian Whelchel, Dr. Moehle, Dr. Gray at Andrews Institute, techs Ronda and Jessica, Peoples Home Health, the wonderful caregivers at Home Instead, and Elizabeth Fayard and everyone with Regency Hospice for taking such great care of her. The family would also like to thank her work family at Jones Flooring and Floors 2000, her church family especially her Sunday school class, and everyone that has been praying for her over the years.
