    Mildred Gerdjikian

    November 2, 1953 - May 16, 2022

Mildred Gerdjikian, 68, passed away May 16, 2022 peacefully at home in Pensacola, Florida. Mildred was born November 2, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY to Vincent and Carmela Spatacco. She was raised in Queens, NY with two older sisters. Mildred had a natural talent for art and fashion design and studied such at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology. Through the years she was a commercial artist with a hobby in clothing design. In 1982 she met her future husband of 39 years and in 1984 gave birth to her only child. Mildred and her family made South Florida their home where she was a dedicated mother, wife, and homemaker, always putting her family first. Mildred was a proud Navy Mom and would speak volumes of her daughters achievements every chance she had. In October 2019 Mildred was diagnosed with cancer. Despite the news she maintained a positive outlook and even started oil painting again. She stayed strong through her battle and always found time to laugh and smile. She would often play cards with her daughter and husband and spent her mornings watching him tend to their garden. "God looked around his garden- And found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth- And saw her tired face. He put his arms around Mildred-And lifted her to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful -He always takes the very best. He knew that she was suffering -He knew she was in pain. He knew that she would never – Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough – And the hills were hard to climb. So he closed her weary eyelids – And whispered, ‘Peace be thine’. It broke our hearts to lose her – But she didn’t go alone, For part of us went with her – The day God called Mildred home." Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Vincent and Carmela Spatacco. She is survived by her sisters Linda Spatacco and Diane Falcone, her husband Dikran Gerdjikian and daughter Stephanie Gerdjikian. A memorial service will be held in Queens, NY for friends and family at a later date.
