February 22, 1928 - January 24, 2022
Lucille (Kane) Holbert of Pensacola, Florida was called home to her Lord on January 24, 2022. Lucy was born in Melvindale, a suburb of Detroit, Michigan on February 22, 1928 to Joseph and Clara (Kresmer) Kane. By 1934, with the great depression upon them, the family of six packed up and moved to Ensley, Florida near Lucy’s grandfather. She attended Ensley and St. Michael’s school until the family moved to the East Hill area of Pensacola. Lucy graduated from Catholic High in 1944 at the age of 16, having begged to start school early and skipping a grade. She went on to attend Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in January of 1948. Lucy met the love of her life Dale A. Holbert while he was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola. They married on December 3, 1948. Lucy and Dale moved to the Chicagoland area and were blessed with eight children. They relocated to Florida in 1969, eventually settling back in Pensacola in 1972 to be near family and enjoy their love of golf. Lucy also loved to read, plant flowers, travel, and was always up for a bit of shopping/lunch with friends and family. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Clara Kane, brothers Thomas Kane and James Kane, her son Brian Holbert, her devoted husband Dale A. Holbert, and her grandson Gavin Brink.
