With his daughters by his side, Louis R Mathis, Jr., died peacefully on March 1, 2022, and reunited in heaven with his beloved wife of 54 years, Helen V. Mathis. As a Senior Chief photographer, he served our country proudly in the United States Navy for 22 years. After retiring from the USN, he enjoyed a second career of 21 years as a Program Analyst/Medicaid Coordinator for the State of Florida. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church. He is survived by his two daughters, Susan C. Mathis and Debra Mathis Vautier (John), and his brother, Pierre Mathis (Dorothy). Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Barrancas National Cemetery. Those who wish to attend the service should meet at 10:30 AM at Olive Baptist Church Warrington Campus, 103 W. Winthrop Ave, located at the entrance to the bridge leading to Pensacola Naval Air Station (NAS) to be escorted onto the base to Barrancas National Cemetery. FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME SOUTH, 100 Beverly Pkwy, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pensacola Waterfront Mission are appreciated.
