Jerry Monroe Bozeman, age 64, passed away Friday, October 14, 2011. He was a devoted father and a gifted teacher. Born Oct. 8, 1947, he joined the US Army in 1964, where he was an airborne ranger in Vietnam and decorated with the bronze star and two purple hearts. Jerry earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in special education and taught for the Department of Defense Dependents Schools, living in South Korea, Germany, Okinawa and Misawa, Japan from 1982 to 2009. He retired and returned to Pensacola, where he continued to travel, entertain, sail, cook and garden. Jerry was preceded in death by his father and mother, Wallace and Frances Bozeman, and by his brothers Kenny and Lamar Bozeman. He is survived by his son Jeremy Bozeman and brother Ricky Bozeman (Violet), a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who will miss him greatly. He will always be remembered for his humor and his compassion for special needs children. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20 at Calvary Way Full Gospel, 100 E. Jones Street, Pensacola, FL, 32514. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant Hospice, 8383 North Davis Highway, 3N, Pensacola, FL 32514.
