June 4, 1978 - December 18, 2021
Beloved son, brother, friend, patriot, veteran, beautiful soul. Jeremy Alan Mittlesteadt, of Pensacola, Florida, departed from this world on December 18, 2021 while in the hospital. He was 43 years old. Jeremy is survived by family and countless friends, and his girlfriend who will always remember his love and gleaming white smile. Jeremy’s life began in Pensacola, Florida, as the son of an adventurous world traveling mother and a Navy father. This duo set Jeremy up for an adventurous life of his own. He loved telling stories about the joys he had growing up in Sicily and Puerto Rico with his brother Nathan. You couldn’t help but smile and laugh when you were around him. Whether it was roller hockey on the beach or going to the Ice Pilots games or just hanging out watching hockey. He wrapped up his childhood back at his birthplace in Pensacola where he graduated from Gulf Breeze High School and felt the calling to join the U.S. Army. He began his proud military career as a combat engineer, but he loved medicine and helping those in need. It didn’t take him long to change his career path and become a combat medic, but his true Army passion was being a paratrooper. Being a paratrooper fed that adventurous spirit cultivated by his family. He served his nation in a time of war and honorably on front lines putting his life on the line in combat to save others; always determined to be there for those who were in need. His love for his country, helping others, and his zest of life didn’t end after he retired from the Army. Pensacola called him back after retirement to be closer to family and the town he loved. He lived life making people laugh with his witty humor, practical jokes and clever, easy-going personality. There wasn’t a sport he didn’t love. Playing softball, long days on the golf course, and Sunday football filled his time. He loved watching game shows with his mother and always knew the trivia answers and found solitude hanging out with her. There isn’t a person who knows Jeremy who wouldn’t say his greatest love was the movies. Jeremy's ability to communicate in movie quotes was epic for some and completely baffling to others. He was a big guy with a big heart and never stopped giving to everyone around him whether it was his time to someone in need or just a smile to brighten one's day. He always held the door for others and respected all by calling them sir or ma’am. Jeremy was a thoughtful, loving, and compassionate man who made selfless contributions throughout his entire life. The day you were born to this world was a blessing, the day you passed from this world was a tragic loss, every day between those two days will be cherished by everyone who loved you. We love you Jeremy, we will forever carry you in our hearts and know our new angel will always be looking over us. To honor Jeremy’s life, family and friends are welcome to attend a military memorial service at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola Naval Air Station at 11:00 a.m. on December 30, 2021. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Army Wounded Warrior Program. Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, is entrusted with arrangements.
