October 11, 1937 - November 19, 2021
Jane Sims Massey, 84, of Pensacola passed away November 19, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born in McComb, MS, on October 11, 1937. She was the youngest child of Aurice and Grace Sims. Jane grew up in McComb, MS, where she graduated from McComb High School. In 1957, she married her husband, Ed. They moved to Pensacola in 1958, where they would raise their four children. She was a faithful member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church, where she devoted her service. Over the years, she volunteered in many capacities as she was always willing to help. She was a proud member of the United Methodist Women's organization serving as president for many years. When St. Andrew UMC merged with Bellview United Methodist, she continued her membership at Bellview. Her church friends became her extended family, and she loved them dearly. She worked for the Escambia County School District for 25 years as a teacher assistant and then as a school secretary. Jane loved to entertain and opened her home for many events. If there was a party for someone or something, you could bet Jane was involved. Sunday evenings and holidays at the Massey house were always filled with family and friends enjoying a great meal together, with Jane being the ultimate hostess. Jane was a friend to all she met. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, husband of 53 years, Ed Massey, and son-in-law Michael Stephens. Jane is survived by her four children, Jim Massey (Gail), Cindy Stephens, Marci Doerfler (Ted), Bill Massey (Cyndi); seven grandchildren, Nicole Riles (Chad), Lucas Massey, Tyler Massey (Ciara), Caitlin Stephens, McKayla Massey, Kendall Massey, and Chandler Massey; and four great-grandchildren, Kylie Riles, Bailey Riles, Peirson Massey, and Sienna Massey. She is also survived by a special nephew, Michael Massey, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Summer Vista for their loving care of Jane over the past four years. Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel South at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 26, 2021. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The USM Athletics Foundation and mailed to P.O. Box 15458, Hattiesburg, MS 39404. In the memo line of your donation, please note that the gift is made to the Ed and Jane Massey Memorial Endowment.
