James (Jim) Bragan, Sr., 69 went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 14, 2012. Jim was a graduate of Rollins College in Orlando, Florida. He proudly retired as a trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol after 31 years and was also retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve, where he proudly flew with the Spectra C130 Ghost Riders out of Duke Field. Jim was a 3rd degree Mason, a member of Foley Presbyterian Church, a member of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Elk’s Lodge for many years. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Carleen of Foley, AL; his children, Shari (Glenn) Alberson of Pensacola, James Jr. (Mel) Bragan of Nashville, TN and Tina (Rick) Lazauskas of Foley, AL. His stepchildren, Heather (Rick) Tyms of Pensacola, Jill (Nathan) Miller of Harrison, AR, Molly Belott, Scott Rowley of Pensacola, Kevin Carvalho of Fort Walton Beach, and Rick (Phyllis) Carvalho of New Braunfels, TX. His grandchildren, Hannah Alberson, Kayla Lazauskas, Maddie & Molly Bragan, Adina & Max Tyms, Jerrid Lunsford, Taylor, Matt & Alec Carvalho will miss their “Bumpa” greatly. The family was proud to be able to call him “Dad”. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors. The funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Reverend Van Eddington officiating. Committal will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and 1 hour prior to funeral service on Thursday at the funeral home.
