Hal Minnich, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, October 8, 2011, in Pensacola, Florida. Hal was born on October 21, 1919 in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania to Bruce B. Minnich and Emma Miller Minnich. In May 1937, he graduated as Salutatorian from his high school in Boiling Springs. Hal served honorably in the United States Army from March 11, 1942 to March 11, 1946 during World War II. He was drafted into the Army Corps of Engineers, but spent most of his time in England, France and Germany in Military Government where he received a Certificate of Merit for meritorious service from September 1944 to September 1945. After receiving his Army discharge in Germany, he continued to work there for the United States Government as a civilian in G-2 Intelligence. On March 15, 1947, Hal married Clara Garnier Blount in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. On February 2, 1952, Hal graduated from the University of Florida with high honors – B.S.B.A. (Bachelor of Science Business Administration – Accounting). He subsequently earned a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification (number 721 in the State of Florida), and became a partner in the firm of Lundy Minnich & Linnville, CPAs. He remained a practicing CPA until age 90 when he closed the firm. Hal was a recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow award in November 1991 from the Pensacola Downtown Rotary Club. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Pensacola Historical Society, and Pensacola Heritage Foundation. Hal is survived by his three children Michael Douglas Minnich of Fort Walton Beach; Bruce Alexander Minnich (Linda) of Ottawa Lake, Michigan; and Barbara Minnich Martin (Ron) of Pensacola, Florida. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Taylor Andrew Martin, Benjamin Bruce Minnich (Lindsey), John Hunter Martin, Adam Wayne Minnich (Jen), and Sarah Minnich Cox (Joshua) The children and grandchildren will celebrate his life with a private gathering and burial at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Florida.
