Etta Jane Buchanan Neece, 97, of Lillian, AL, passed away on 18 May, 2022, at Country Cottage Assisted Living Facility in Cantonment, FL. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, Pensacola, at 11:30 AM. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30. Pastor Josh Thompson, of First Baptist Church, Lillian, AL, will be officiating. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, FL. Must leave the funeral home with the processional and police escort or you will not be allowed on base 12:30 PM. Etta Jane Buchanan was born on the 20th December, 1924, in Roaring Creek, NC, to Molt and Texie Buchanan. She went on a blind date with the love of her life, William E. Neece, in Elizabethton, TN, around the first of June, 1948, while he was home on leave from the Navy, They were married two weeks later at her brother’s home in Canton, OH, on the 16 June, 1948. She joined him in Honolulu, HI, a few months later and began her life as a Navy wife and mother and traveled around the country for 20 years. They were married for over 66 years. She was a wonderful and caring sister, wife, mother and friend to many throughout her life and will be missed for her humor and kindness. Etta is preceded in death by her husband, William E. Neece; daughter-in-law, Sandra Elliott Neece; son, Jeffory L. Neece; son, Jonathan Grey Neece; her parents, four siblings and their spouses. Etta is survived by her daughter, Cherie I. Neece; daughter-in-law, Becky Newton Young Neece (Jeff); granddaughter, Rebecca Nicole Neece; grandson, (Jeffery) Matthew Neece (Christy); granddaughter, Amy Louise Neece (Thomas Mann); grandson, William (Willie) Elliot Neece; granddaughter, Ashley Young; 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Matt Neece, Willie Neece, Hunter Neece and Thomas Mann. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Peters, Bobbye McClinton, Marcella Roberson, Ella Salter and JJ Mauverova.
