Elmer Melton
December 20, 1927 - April 24, 2012
Elmer H. Melton went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 24, 2012 under the care of the West Florida Covenant Hospice Group. He was a bigger than life husband, father and grandfather who dedicated his entire life to serving the Lord. A simple humble man that put the needs of others before his own. Born in Burkesville, Ky. in 1927 into a family of 7 brothers and sisters Elmer learned that family and friends are forever and projected that in his everyday life. After serving his country in the US Navy and US Marine Corps, where he was a decorated veteran, he was then (with Gods guidance) stationed at Pensacola NAS. It was there that he met his lifelong soulmate Eunice Wallace. In 1954 they married and began a journey of 52 years together building a family on the foundation of love and faith in the Lord. Elmer was a faithful member of Brownsville Assembly of God Church for over 50 years. He later became active in Pine Forest Assembly of God Church and Church of His Presence in Mobile Ala. He is preceded in death by his parents Roy Peyton Melton and Lizzie Anderson Melton, his beautiful wife Eunice, and his loyal pet Mason. Elmer is survived by his brother Roy K. Melton (Patsy) and his sister Joyce Tanner of Louisville Ky. His son Darrell Melton of Pensacola Fl. and his 4 precious grandchildren that he loved so much Clinton Michael Riggan (Alyssa), Christopher Brandon Melton (Jami), Amanda Nicole Melton and Jason Andrew Melton. The Melton family would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Dennis Taylor of the West Florida Hospital and all of the doctors and staff that provided exceptional care during our father and grandfathers illness. To the West Florida Covenant Hospice Group, the West Florida Heart Group and the nurses on 4 South... Thank You for your compassion, patience and understanding during this difficult time.
