August 27, 1924 - November 30, 2021 Born in Michigan City, Indiana, daughter of Carl and Elsa Steinborn Preceded in death by husband Gordon (Mac) McLachlan, sisters Gertrude Waltz, Irmgard Waltz, Ruth Freese. Survived by her children , Elaine (Dave) Hettinga, Susan (Lyle) Dingman, Cynthia (William - deceased) Prouty, Carl (Kathi) Rowland, Deborah (Robert -deceased) Grafton, 12 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren. Dorothy was greatly loved by her family. She had a unique sense of humor and had many one-liners and jokes. Loved to make people laugh and didn't hesitate to participate in conversations and express her opinions. Her home was open to all, and she took in and cared for many other children, fed and clothed them, and loved them. She was a shelter in their storm many times. We had many travel and picnic adventures with mom, and will always remember the cooler full of fried chicken and potato salad. She would enjoy a cold beer (or two) with family and friends, didn't hesitate for a road trip, loved to read, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. It's hard to let her go, but know she is with our Lord Jesus. We will always carry a part of her in our hearts. A Celebration of Life is tentatively set for mid-April. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Emerald Coast Hospice
