Dorothy McCarty, also known as Ms. Dot, a long time resident of the Pensacola area, died Monday, April 25, 2022 at Baptist Hospital of Pensacola. Born in 1935, in Sullivan County, PA, she had a wonderful life with her parents, George and Francis Morgan, and her dearest siblings, Betty, Grace, Elwood, Dennis, and Edward. She graduated from Canton High School in 1953. She married the love of her life, Carl McCarty, on April 14, 1956. They had two beautiful children, Monte and Carla. Her husband served in the Air Force and they traveled to many duty stations around the world. They retired here in Pensacola, FL, where Ms. Dot worked in childcare, first working and retiring from Kinder Care, and then working and retiring from Corry Child Development Center. She loved being in a caretaker role and has always shared such fond memories of her days in the childcare setting. Dot loved crafting and sewing in her spare time. She loved to garden and was always busy in her flower beds. She loved to cook and bake. She especially loved to spend time with family and friends and had a way of making everyone feel at home. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Francis; her siblings, Elwood, Grace, and Betty; her husband, Carl McCarty; son, Monte McCarty; and her daughter, Carla McCarty. She is survived by her brothers, Dennis Morgan (Charlene) and Edward Morgan; her grandchildren, Morgan Dazey (Robert), Jakob Ard (Brittany), Christina Graves (Tim), and Candance Ard; her great-grandchildren, O’livia, Quinn, Houston, Samuel, Wyatt, Henry, Joshua, Drew, and Eli; her best friends, Alice Burress (Buddy), who she thought of as a sister, and her great niece, Kay West (Gary). She has family and friends all over the world that she shared many memories and love with, who will all miss her dearly. Visitation for family will begin at 10:00 AM, on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Family will receive visitors from 11:30-12:30 Funeral Services will begin at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, at 2:00 PM. Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, is entrusted with arrangements.
