Donald “Don” Caroline, age 60, went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2022. He was born on May 19, 1961 to John and Margot Caroline. After graduating from Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia, Don joined the United States Air Force in 1980. His first posting was overseas at San Vito, Italy. Upon returning to the United States, he was assigned to Patrick AFB in Cocoa Beach, Florida. It was at Patrick AFB that he met and fell in love with another Air Force member. Don and Angie were married at the base chapel in April 1983. Together, they set out to travel the world and were soon stationed at Misawa, Japan where they had two children, Cindy and Todd. From there they went to Syracuse, New York. After eleven years in the Air Force, Don transitioned to the US Army and became a warrant officer. His first army posting would be at Menwith Hill Station in North Yorkshire in England. Leaving England, the Caroline family would move to Augusta, Georgia. While at Fort Gordon, Don had two overseas temporary duty postings in the Middle East. He served at bases in Saudi Arabia and in Kuwait. His final military posting would be at Corry Station in Pensacola. Throughout his military career, Don continued to further his education and earned a B.A. from Columbia College and a Master’s Degree from Troy State University. After 21 active years, Don retired from the military, He would spend the next 16 years teaching at schools in Escambia County. He spent most of his teaching career at Escambia High School and was proud to be a Gator. Don loved traveling and he and Angie would travel throughout most of the U.S. as well as overseas. He had a deep love for our nation’s national parks. He also loved cruises. Cruises would take him to the Mediterranean Sea, the Baltic Sea, Alaska, the California coast, New England/Canada and the Caribbean. For those of you who knew Don, he was an avid exercise enthusiast. He loved running. But, Don’s greatest love of all was the Lord. He was a devout Christian. He attended Bellview UMC in Pensacola and Liberty Church. He loved being a part of the church community and loved serving in any capacity needed. He served meals at Loaves and Fishes for nearly 20 years. He had a passion for serving others. He was never one to call attention to himself, but quietly served others whenever called upon. He is survived by his wife Angie, his daughter Cindy Meadors (Dan), his son Todd Caroline (Rebecca) and his three grandsons, Eli, Luke and Judah. He is survived by his mother Margot Caroline, his sister Patty Harrell (Allen) and his brother John Michael Caroline (Cindy). He is also survived by his Nebraska family. He was preceded in his death by his father John Paul Caroline. A Celebration of Life service will be held on February 12, 2022 at 11am at Liberty Church North at 9420 Music Lane, Pensacola FL 32514. Friends and family are invited to visit with the family at 10am preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loaves and Fishes in Pensacola.
