Dolores Mary Strickland
August 15, 1930 - June 3, 2022
Dolores Mary Strickland was born August 15, 1930 and rose to heaven June 3, 2022. “Aunt Sis” was a devout Catholic and deeply loved family member to many. She was known for thinking and caring for others before herself, starting with her love of animals, caring for all who “mysterious” appeared at her doorsteps. After graduating from Fontbonne University in St. Louis MO, with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, she worked as a surgical nurse in numerous locations around the United States. She later served as a support volunteer for heart surgery patients and as a bereavement counselor to many. She also volunteered her time to run the bingo for Pensacola Catholic High School, where she found one of her favorite pups abandoned in the parking lot- and her favorite breed- an English Bulldog! Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Clara Ording, her husband John Strickland and her brother Alton Ording. She is survived by her sister, Nancy, her brother Joseph (Penelope), her sister-in-law Mary and many nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. and Dolores will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 South Highway 29, Cantonment, is entrusted with arrangements.
