    Danny Robert "Dan" Gore

    May 21, 1943 - November 29, 2021

On November 29, 2021 at 1:22 AM, while holding Valerie's hand, I'm sure Jesus said "I'll take Dan's pain away now." He was born Danny Gore, May 21, 1943 to John and Margaret Gore, in West Frankport, Illinois. He was born and raised Catholic. Dan had a strong work ethic and at a young age he worked a paper route and worked in a furniture store. Later he owned his own furniture store in Sullivan, Illinois. Dan joined the Navy in 1962 and served over 3 years. "Dan, Dan The Furniture Man" worked for Rhodes furniture for over 20 years and retired from RTG in November 2013. Dan was passionate about dancing and that is how he met his wife Valerie in 1992. They married in 1996. Dan is a kind, compassionate person, a giver. Dan carved turkeys for St. Joseph Catholic Church for their Thanksgiving meal for the homeless and shut-ins. St. Anthony's was the last church he attended before Covid. Dan was a helper whether it was to some of his co-workers, a need at church or a customer that needed help. Dan absolutely loved New Orleans and he and Valerie made trips there as often as possible. Dan owned MANY classic cars. His favorite being the 1936 Mercedes. Dan was known for wearing lots of turquoise jewelry. He wore colorful suits in every color. Customers would come into Rhodes asking for "The Man with the Purple Suit and Turquoise Jewelry." Dan has two daughters from his 1st marriage. Angela Hickey (Don) and Leslie McCraney (Luke). Grand children from Angela is Blake, Emory and John Andrew. Grandchildren from Leslie is Tucker and Jackson. Dan has 3 stepchildren from Valerie, James Newman, Havelyn Lindsay, Eve Moore-Henry (Tom), Grandchildren from Havelyn is Dyllon. Grandchildren from Eve is Ben and Jon. Dan has a sister-in-law, Carol Gore from Illinois. Dan is now reunited with his brothers in Heaven, Tim and Jim Gore. Dan and Valerie have rescued many 4 legged babies in their 25 years. His favorite was "Ducie." The family would like to thank all those that helped Dan through his Alzheimer's Illness. Most of all - Covenant Care, Hospice. All of the nurses that tried to make Dan's care as free of pain as they could. And a big help to the children that helped with the heavy lifting. Dan's Catholic Mass will be announced at a later time. His visitation will be on December 6, 2021 from 5:00PM - 6:00 PM. His Celebration Of Life will follow at 6:00 PM at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South on 100 Beverly Parkway. Masks are required. Casual attire please. Please wear purple if possible. In lieu of flowers, please donate in his honor to A Place Of Hope Small Dog Rescue Pensacola or Hotel for Dogs and Cats Pensacola.
